New York Giants at Washington Redskins (Skins +1, O/U 43.5)

New York
The Giants at 7-6 still have a shot at the playoffs if they can win out, but their bitter rival Redskins hold the key to their destiny.  With Green Bay losing at Pittsburgh and Dallas having 2 tough divisional games left, there is still a shot.  The Giants, despite having the leagues 9th ranked defense in the league in terms of yards per game, have the 4th worst in points allowed.  The G-men have allowed 25.4 points per game and the once dominant pass rush is suddenly non-existent.  The Giants have allowed 40 points or more 3 times this season and continue to be vulnerable to the big play as we saw last week against the Eagles.  Brandon Jacobs will be the key to the Giants success this game.  The Giants factor back has not been a factor at all for the majority of the season and with Bradshaw fighting injuries all season need him more than ever.  The hard running HB seems like he has been playing some soft football ever since his big payday.

Washington
The Skins are 4-9 and their playoff hopes are over but they still get the opportunity to ruin some of their division rivals Holidays over the next couple weeks.  I give the Skins a lot of credit over the last 5 weeks.  It’s a forgone certainty that Zorn will be out as head coach next season but this Skins team continues to fight for him.  Over the last 5 games the Skins have gone 2-5, but their losses have come by a FG or less.  The Skins defense should see DT Albert Haynesworth back this week, and if they can get pressure on Eli Manning we could see him make some of those critical mistakes in the passing game we are accustomed to when he is under pressure.  Jason Campbell has been playing some good football over the last 4 weeks throwing for 1076 yards, 7 TD’s and just 3 INT’s combined over that time.  I don’t expect the Skins to take it easy tonight on the Giants.

I hope the Skins pull this one out even though their season is done.
